Daniel Calvin Redburn

May 1, 1938 — August 16, 2023

Daniel Calvin Redburn, age 85 passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at his home in Tuttle, Oklahoma.

Calvin was born May 01, 1938 in Pawnee, Oklahoma, a son of Dan and Mary Redburn, joining siblings Haskell and Maxine. He grew up in Pawnee where he attended school, graduating with the class of 1956.  While in high school, he worked at the local grocery store and drive-in movie theater. His high school years also brought a fortunate meeting which took place when a group of kids from Pawnee and Fairfax headed to an Elvis Presley concert in Tulsa.  It was on this trip that Calvin met Lucinda Barden and a love story began that would last almost 70 years.

Following high school graduation, Calvin attended airline school in Tulsa, Oklahoma which led to employment at Braniff Airways in Dallas, Texas.  He transferred to Oklahoma City shortly after and on December 07, 1957 married the love of his life Lucinda Jean Barden in in Fairfax, Oklahoma. The couple moved to Oklahoma City where they resided the next ten years.

In 1959, Calvin joined the Army National Guard. Within the next seven years he would transfer from there to the Air National Guard where he continued to serve until he was honorably discharged in 1967.

Calvin and Cinda were blessed with two children Kimberly Diane and Gary Dan.  In 1969, they left Oklahoma City, purchased land, and built their home in Tuttle, Oklahoma. Calvin did all the things great fathers do. He coached little league baseball, football, and softball, built science fair projects, and drove at least a million miles pulling water skiing teens at the lake enjoying every minute of it.

His career at Braniff Airways ended abruptly in 1982.  After 26 years with the company, they filed bankruptcy.  Calvin and many of his peers worked at Continental and United Airlines until he eventually landed at Flying Tigers which was soon purchased by Federal Express.  He remained employed there for another 35 years until his retirement in April 2022 at the ripe old age of 84.  His work ethic was unmatched. Had it not been for a back injury, he would have continued to keep on working.

Calvin and Cinda were very involved in their community and in 1984 were appointed to the Tuttle Tag Agency.  Being the workaholic he was, he promptly opened at 7:30 a.m for the farmers and people going to work so they could get their business done. But secretly, he enjoyed the conversation and donuts that filled those early mornings. Cinda would come in at 9:00 a.m. and shortly after, Calvin went off to his "real job" at Fed Ex.  Calvin was not good at sitting still and work seemed to be his hobby. He enjoyed the simple things like spending time with his family and friends, traveling, camping at the lakes and sitting on one of his John Deere mowers cutting the grass. He also loved trying new restaurants and was always on the lookout for a great hotdog.

Calvin is survived by his wife of 65 1/2 years Cinda Redburn; daughter Kim Redburn; son Gary Redburn and wife Rachel'; granddaughter Lindsay Johnson and husband Steve; grandson Zachary Redburn; and great granddaughter Braelee Smith and a host of nieces and nephews.

Calvin is preceded in death by his parents Mary and Dan Redburn; brother Haskell Redburn; and sister Maxine Haskett.
