Alan Fred Novey

Alan Fred Novey Sr., born April 15, 1951, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, departed from this world on July 21, 2024, at the Veterans Hospital in Oklahoma City, surrounded by family, friends, and compassionate healthcare providers who eased his final journey. Alan was a devout Christian and a member of the Church of Christ. His faith in God was the cornerstone of his life, guiding his actions and filling his heart with love and purpose every day.

Alan's life was a rich tapestry woven with passion and determination. A devoted husband to Deborah (Ragsdale) Novey for over 52 years, together they raised three sons: James Alan Novey II, Alan Fred Novey Jr., and Derrick Sean Alan Novey. He was also a loving grandfather to Kiana Novey, Elle Novey, and Deason Novey.

From an early age, Alan's natural curiosity and ingenuity were apparent. Raised in Oklahoma City, he attended Putnam City High School where his penchant for solving problems became legendary. He possessed the spirit of a true engineer and inventor, dismantling motorcycles, cars, engines, and anything electronic with an insatiable thirst for understanding their inner workings.

Alan's path took a significant turn when he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps alongside his friend Jim Beck, a decision that shaped his unwavering patriotism and commitment. Despite an injury that led to his honorable discharge, Alan remained a stalwart supporter of the Marines throughout his life. After serving in the Marines, Alan pursued his education in electrical and mechanical engineering.

One fateful day at a McDonald’s altered the course of Alan's life forever when he encountered Debbie, the love of his life. Their bond was instant, and they embarked on a journey that spanned over five decades, settling on an acreage in Blanchard, Oklahoma, where they raised their children and cared for numerous pets. Alan adored the time spent with his sons, often bringing them along on his projects. He shared his passions for big machinery, firearms, movies, music and fishing, creating lasting memories and passing down his love for these activities to them throughout their childhood.

Alan was a relentless thinker, a tireless worker, and a stubborn fighter. He wouldn’t leave until the “job is done”, and left an indelible signature of perfection on every project his hands touched. A master of his crafts, Alan was renowned for his meticulous approach as a Pipefitter, Gunsmith, Electrical Engineer, and Certified Airframe & Powerplant Mechanic. His projects always reflected his craftsmanship and unparalleled expertise with tools.

Beyond his professional achievements, Alan's passion mechanical marvels was infectious, imparting his enthusiasm to his sons and delighting in spirited conversations about mechanics and engineering. His mind was a beacon of knowledge, ever curious about science, mathematics, and the intricacies of the world around him. His life was guided by personal mottos such as "Think fast, work slow" and "Check everything three times," principles he instilled in those he mentored and loved

Alan had the biggest heart, and his departure leaves an irreplaceable void in the hearts of his family and friends, filled only with cherished memories of his boundless imagination, herculean sacrifices and profound love. He is survived by his devoted wife, Deborah Novey of Blanchard, Oklahoma, his children and grandchildren: James Alan Novey II, Liya Novey and Kiana Novey of Honolulu, HI, Alan Fred Novey Jr., Angi Novey and Elle Novey of Oklahoma City, OK, and Derrick Sean Alan Novey, Courtney Beddall, and Deason Novey of Oklahoma City, OK.
