Albert "Al" Davenport

Albert William Davenport, age 88, of Midwest City, Oklahoma, passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2024 in Midwest City, Oklahoma.

Albert was born June 19, 1936 in Holdenville, Oklahoma, a son of Ruby and Albert Davenport. He was raised there where he attended school graduating from Holdenville High School. Albert married Corinne Hawthorne and that union was blessed with three children Debbie, Wayne, and Terri. Albert was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed coaching little league baseball as well as serving as an umpire. 

Albert worked for Townly Dairy delivering milk and ice cream for many years. One of his customers was Tim's Drive In. It was here that he became friends with a woman who worked there named Mary. As a result of their friendship, he met Marilee Cearlock Strong. The two fell for one another and eventually married. Albert's three children and Marilee's two daughters became a blended family of five. Marilee passed away in 1999. 

Albert was looking for a career change and decided to obtain his license to sell insurance. He soon opened an agency with Farmer's Insurance in Oklahoma City. Albert was partners with Tom Hibbits and Bary Hale. Albert loved working with people and taking good care of his customers. Albert met Sherry Calhoun and found a much needed companion and the two married. After complications from a surgery, Sherry passed away. 

Albert was an avid fan of the University of Oklahoma Sooners, very meticulous about his lawn, and had found joy in working as a black jack dealer. While working at the casino, Albert met Beverly Grubaugh who had lost her spouse as well. The two found comfort in one another and were married. They enjoyed each others company, taking cruises, and gambling at their favorite casinos. 

Albert enjoyed collecting Coca Cola memorabilia, woodworking, and all things sports. He listened to sports radio, attended sporting events, and also watched them on television. Albert is beloved by his family and friends and will be dearly missed. 

Albert is survived by his wife Bevery Kaye Davenport; daughter Debbie Davenport; daughter Pam Reed and husband Mark; daughter Angie King and husband Gordan; grandchildren Melissa, Kristen, Jerad, Jacob, Trey, Alan, Cheyenne; great grandchildren Kayla, Maverick, Addison, Joey, and Elliott; great great grandchild Lincoln; brother Don Davenport; brother Jim Davenport and wife Donna; step sons Gene and Robert Herrington; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. 

Albert is preceded in death by his parents Ruby and Albert Davenport; sister Lottie Deel and husband Raymond; brother Sid Davenport and wife Odalia; brother Claud Davenport and wife Lucille; brother Jerry Davenport and wife Hilda; sister Cecil Martin and husband Roy; sister Dorothy Cook and husband Truman; brother Leroy Thacker and wife Carol Jean; sister Margaret Cook and husband Lonnie; sister Ruby Jewel Pikey and husband Ruben ; sister Gay Nelle Fleming and husband James; brother Ray Thacker and wife Waltraud ; sister Betty Sue Garrard and husband Harold; sister Freda Sanders and husband L.L.; Sister-in-law Bonnie Davenport; son Billy Wayne Davenport and three wives Marilee Curlock, Sherry Calhoun, and Corinne Hawthorne.
