Cecil Lee Gilchrest

July 10, 1951 — November 12, 2023

Cecil Lee Gilchrest Sr., age 72, of Tuttle, Oklahoma, passed away Sunday, November 12, 2023 at his home in Tuttle, Oklahoma.

Cecil was born July 10, 1951 in Borger, Texas, the middle child of Bobbi and W.C. Gilchrest. He was raised alongside his siblings Calvin, Linda, Bob, and Tim. He attended Borger High School graduating with the class of 1969. Cecil came from humble beginnings in the Panhandle of Texas which inspired and motivated him to build a life for himself. From an early age, Cecil was a hard worker who chose to contribute providing for the family.

Cecil met Carla Sue Smith at the local bowling alley while in high school. On that first night, Cecil told Carla "you are the prettiest girl I have ever seen and I am going to marry you." He was persistent in asking and finally the two were married on February 07, 1970 in Borger, Texas. They were blessed with two sons Cecil Lee Jr. and Terry Bob. Their son's believed he was a super hero. They learned to work hard, never give up, and always do your best. They enjoyed camping at the river where they would ride motorcycles and dune buggy's. Cecil loved working with his hands and taught his sons how to as well. He also taught them the importance to be charitable and help others. Cecil found a new purpose and zest for life when he became a Papa. Lauren, Autumn, Eli and Luke were his world. He loved playing and engaging with them in a way that interested each of them individually. Papa's gift of storytelling is something the grandchildren will always remember.

Cecil was known for his ornery sense of humor, strong work ethic, steadfast faith, being a guardian angel to many, and having the heart of a caregiver.

Cecil is survived by his wife of 53 years Carla Gilchrest; son Lee Gilchrest; son Terry Gilchrest and wife Sherri; grandchildren Lauren Brown; Autumn Davis and husband Brady; Eli Gilchrest; and Luke Gilchrest; great-grandchildren Jayce Brown, Crue Davis, and Radlee Self; brother Bobby Gilchrest; along with his nieces and nephews that he loved dearly, cousins and friends.

Cecil is preceded in death by his parents Bobbie and W.C. Gilchrest, brother Calvin Gilchrest; sister Linda Gilchrest; brother Tim Gilchrest.
