On August 16, 1977, Elvis Presley died in Memphis, Tennessee and Christopher Lee Johnson was born in Pierre, South Dakota. Chris was the first child born to Mark and Debbie (Erickson) Johnson, as well as the oldest sibling to Jesse, Beth, and Cody. The family resided in the extra small community of Ree Heights, South Dakota until June of 1988 when they moved to Oklahoma City, which was quite the culture shock for everyone involved. The following year the Johnson family settled in Tuttle, Oklahoma. Chris graduated from Tuttle High School in 1996, then went on to Oklahoma City Community College where he studied Computer Technology. He was a jack of all trades and master of some. Chris was an extremely hard worker and held a variety of positions throughout his life. By far his favorite title was that of Dad, which he received on May 6, 2013, when his son Jaxon William Johnson was born.
Chris was a loving son, brother, father, uncle, and friend. He could figure out how to fix anything and especially enjoyed taking things apart. He loved reading Stephen King books, cats, Sammy the dog, long naps, losing his wallet and/or keys, and leaving every single cabinet door open.
Chris had been experiencing a sudden decline in his health over the past year. He and his doctors were actively seeking answers but had so far been unable to pinpoint the source of his ailments. Chris passed away February 1, 2025. He is preceded in death by his grandparents and various family members, loved ones and pets. Chris leaves behind his beloved son, Jaxon, and his mother, Amanda Smith, as well as his parents, siblings and their spouses, nieces, nephews and many extended family members and friends, all of which make up an occasionally dysfunctional group that will miss him forever.
A “Celebration of Life” will be held at a later date.
