Elmer Ed Johnson, lifelong resident of Tuttle, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at the age of 88.

Elmer was born on April 3, 1936, in Sterling, Oklahoma, to Lorena (Sherfield) and George "Man" Johnson. He attended Sterling schools where he worked on the family farm graduating with the Sterling High School Class of 1954 forming many lasting friendships. Elmer went on to serve in the United States Navy. After his active duty, Elmer was a proud veteran where he was active in the American Legion. He served as Commander of Rooker Wallace Post 176 for many years, organized the annual veterans memorial day service, and was seen in countless parades with the trailer he designed honoring veterans who have passed on.

Elmer married Pat Bozarth, his angel in white, September 10, 1960 at First Baptist Church of Tuttle. They were blessed with two children Kelley Diann and Kevin DeWayne and celebrated 60 years of marriage. Elmer and Pat enjoyed traveling the United States on bus tours. One memorable trip was to the Northeast where they visited Maine and Canada.

Elmer was best known for his faith, patriotism, generous heart, and being a wonderful provider for his family. He was a talker, loved story telling, and making jokes. His favorite role of all was being grandpa to his grandsons Nathan and Joseph. He loved spending time with them fishing, feeding prairie dogs at Mount Scott, riding scooters around Jeffries addition, and too many sleepovers to count.

Elmer was a devoted member of Tuttle First Baptist Church for over 60 years where he served as RA leader and an usher. For many years, he took young boys to Camp Huggins in McAllister, OK where he also served as Camp Director for a time.

Elmer loved his church family where he was known for bringing donuts, and his friends from breakfast at Scott's Mini Stop, coffee at Walkers Station, and Oklahoma Baptist Disaster Relief. He had a deep appreciation for the Tuttle Fire, Police, and EMS where he was known to show his appreciation in many ways.

Elmer is survived by his daughter Kelley Voreis; grandson Nathan Voreis and wife Payton; grandson Joseph Voreis; sister; Ruby Williams; sister Nyla Johnson; sister Ida Jo Adamson; sister in law Glenda Gore; sister and brother in law Connie and Lee Porter; brother in law Melvin Garrett; brother in law Roger Bozarth; along with several cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who he dearly loved.

Elmer is preceded in death by his parents; wife of 60 years Pat Johnson; son Kevin Johnson; son in law Gene Voreis; and sister Juanita Kerr.
