Erin Layne Whisner, age 37, of Tuttle, Oklahoma, passed away Sunday, April 21, 2024 at her home in Tuttle, Oklahoma.
Erin was born September 21, 1986 to Joel and Stephanie Heath. She was raised in Mustang, Oklahoma with siblings Cory and Kyndal, where they attended Mustang public schools. Erin was always passionate about soccer and started playing at age 4. She played club soccer for Mustang and North OKC, and was selected for the Oklahoma Olympic Development State Team. After graduating from Mustang High School with the class of 2005, she received a full ride scholarship to Oklahoma City University and later Southwestern Christian University. Erin loved sharing her excitement for the game of soccer with others, going on to coach the women’s JV soccer team at Mustang High School, as well as club teams for the Canadian Valley Soccer Club.
Erin met Joe Whisner and it was an instant connection. After Joe proposed on a trip to the Ozarks, the two were married April 21, 2012 by the ocean in the Riviera Maya. They were an adventurous couple who loved being outdoors. They spent time at Lake Eufala, hosting gatherings in their backyard, and traveling the world. Erin brought her son Gunner Hagen Fleharty to marriage and their little family was established. The birth of their son Gabriel Evans completed their family of four. She loved her boys, being their mom, and was involved in all of their activities- even coaching Gabriel’s U6 boys’ soccer team. She is remembered for making delicious food, living a beautiful life, and spending quality time with her family.
Erin was best known for being a loyal family member and friend. She loved her backyard oasis where many gatherings were held. Her and Joe's friendships with other couples were special to her. Traveling with friends was among her favorite things, and usually involved a sunny destination.
Erin is survived by her husband Joe Whisner, son Gunner Fleharty; son Gabriel Whisner; parents Stephanie and Joel Heath; brother Cory Heath and wife Beth; sister Kyndal Heath; nephew Conner Heath; and many cousins and friends- too many to count.
