Jennifer Janett Mcmillan

December 19, 1972 — June 6, 2024

Jennifer Janett "Jenny" McMillan, age 51, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away Thursday, June 6, 2024 peacefully at her home surrounded by her family.

Jenny was born December 19, 1972 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, a daughter of Kathy (Witten) and Kevin Dennis. She was raised along side her sisters Michele and Emily. Jenny was the mother hen to her sisters, was the one who never got in trouble, and was known as a "precious queen" by both of them. She attended Westmoore High School graduating with the class of 1991. Jenny went on to attend the University of Oklahoma earning a bachelors degree in radiation therapy.

Jenny married Tommy Washington and from that union was blessed with four children Peyton Grace, Thomas Edward II, Maggie Mae, and Olivia Michele. She loved being their mother and was present in all of her children's activities including baseball, cheerleading, and many school events. She was slow to anger, the best at doing hair, had an amazing sense of style, and loved all of her children's friends who referred to her as "Mamma Jenny." Her favorite role of all was being "Nana" to her only grandchild Weston Bleu. Jenny loved caring for him so much she had a room for him at her house. She had such a special bond with him and spoiled him rotten regardless what his Mom said.

She started her career as a radiation therapist at Deaconess Hospital in Oklahoma City. She went on to work as a dosimetrist at Deaconess Hospital and then served the remainder of her career as Vice President of Operations for the Procure Proton Center that was later named the Oklahoma Proton center. Her colleagues admired her outstanding patient service, exceptional teamwork, and inspiration to others. The Oklahoma Proton Center created the Jenny Washington Award in 2024 naming her as their first recipient.

Jenny was an avid Neil Diamond fan and traveled to New York City to see the musical made in his honor A Beautiful Noise on Broadway with her sisters. She was happiest reading a romance novel, relaxing on the back patio by the pool, and was known for her ability to find a deal while shopping. She was also known for her ability to maintain composure under pressure, a loyal friend, and having a smile that was a ray of sunshine.

Jenny met Tony McMillan in 2019 and the two felt an instant connection. Tony planned a scavenger hunt for Jenny a year later in December that lead her to a proposal in downtown Oklahoma City. The two where married in a beautiful outdoor ceremony October 23, 2021. They enjoyed traveling to art shows from Nashville, to Las Vegas and many places in between. One of their favorite things was spending quality time together which involved relaxing and often a game of chess. Both had a competitive nature and Jenny did a great deal of research in her quest to beat Tony.

In 2023, Jenny was diagnosed with a stage four glioblastoma brain tumor. This came as a shock and devastating blow to her family, friends, and colleagues. Having worked in the oncology field, Jenny had more knowledge of the battle ahead of her than the average person. Dr. Sameer Keole was a trusted friend and colleague of Jenny's who was willing to be present and have many difficult conversations with her in an effort to prepare her for what was ahead. From the start, Jenny was prepared to fight the battle of her life with her children, husband, and family as her motivation. Following major surgery, multiple rounds of chemo and radiation, and a medical trial, Jenny never complained and she never gave up. The impact she has left on the world is unable to be measured. Jenny leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love, inspiring resilience, and never giving up on the pursuit of ones dreams.

Jenny is survived by her husband Tony McMillan, daughter Peyton Washington; son Thomas Washington; daughter Maggie Washington; daughter Olivia Washington; grandson Weston Blackburn; step daughter Lilly McMillan; father Kevin Dennis; mother Kathy Howard and husband Darrell; sister Michele Stapleton and husband Todd; sister Emily Hart and husband Josh; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends too many to count.

Jenny is preceded in death by her beloved "Nana" Nina Witten; "Bobby" Bill Witten; and "Grannie" Laverne Dennis.

The family would like to extend their sincerest appreciation to Jenny's oncologist Dr. James Battiste, the Oklahoma Proton Center, her radiology team including dear friend Beth who mapped her dosimetery plan, and Frontier Hospice for their compassionate care.
