Jerry Sparks

Jerry Alfred Sparks, age 82, of Tuttle, Oklahoma, passed away Thursday, July 4, 2024 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Jerry was born December 01, 1941 in Tuttle, Oklahoma, a son of Gladys and Joe Sparks. Jerry was raised in Tuttle where he attended school alongside his siblings Jeanette, Bettie, and Steve. Jerry graduated with the Tuttle High School class of 1960.

Jerry entered the workforce after high school in automotive sales. He worked for Morris Chevrolet in the beginning by repossessing vehicles followed by working as the finance manager for the dealership. In the last five years of his employment, Jerry financed small car dealerships while employed with Morris Investments until his retirement. Jerry opened Sparky's Filling Station alongside his Dad and brother Steve. They were a staple in the Tuttle community where they would clean your windshield, pump your gas, and fix your flat every time. 

Jerry met Pamela Turner while dragging Main in Tuttle. The "sparks" were there from the start and the two were married December 08, 1967 at First Baptist Church in Tuttle, Oklahoma. They enjoyed traveling in their motor home all over the country and camping at the lake. The couple were blessed with two children Stephanie Michele and Angela Rene. Family was always a priority to Jerry and his girls grew up knowing they were loved and well provided for. His family recalls how intentional he was to keep them safe and making sure every lock they had was locked. When Angie and Pam faced health challenges, Jerry didn't hesitate to be their caregiver. He was a man of few words, but his love for his family was evident in the way he cared for them until the very end. 

After retirement, Jerry and Pam moved to Lake Texoma where they opened Pam's Plants, a greenhouse that serviced the lake locals and customers on the Texas side. While Jerry wasn't one who enjoyed water above his ankles, he loved striper fishing with Pam in their spare time. Jerry was also mechanically inclined and enjoyed spending time tinkering in his shop. 

Jerry was best known for being able to fix just about anything and his love for helping anyone in need. He is a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend who will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. 

Jerry is survived by his wife of 57 years Pam Sparks; daughter Stephanie Cummings and husband Greg; granddaughter Tayler Davis; grandson Jacob Traxler and wife Nicole; grandson Brayden Traxler; and Madison Scales and husband Tanner; great grandchildren Wyatt, Corbin, Elaina, Jozie, Violet, Cutter, and Kalihan; sister Jeanette Haywood and husband Tom; sister Bettie Black; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Jerry is preceded in death by his his parents Gladys and Joe Sparks; daughter Angie Traxler; granddaughter Tatum Davis; brother Steve Sparks; and baby sister Shirley Sparks.
