Joy Dee (Bradley) Shook, lifelong resident of Tuttle, passed away February 07, 2025 in Chickasha, Oklahoma at the age of 92.
Joy was born June 23, 1932, in Sentinel, Oklahoma the youngest child to Nora (Caldwell) and E.W. “Dick” Bradley. She was raised in Sentinel alongside her siblings Bobbie, Lavon, Bill, and Jack. Joy graduated with the Sentinel High School class of 1950 and went on to attend business school in Oklahoma City. Her older sister then convinced her to come live with her and take a job in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Joy was there a short time and then returned to Oklahoma City to work for Home State Life Insurance Company.
Max O’hara introduced Joy to Warren Dale Shook in July of 1954. They were married June 24, 1955 in the Oklahoma City Baptist Temple by the same pastor, Finley W. Tinnin Jr. that baptized Joy in 1953. They made their home on a farm in Amber, Oklahoma and in July of 1971, they bought the Jack McComas Dairy in Tuttle and milked cows until 1975. They were a couple who were always together whether they were working the farm or traveling in the motor home with their friends. Joy was truly happiest at home on the farm and always said “Warren Dale was my life.” God blessed them with two children, Joy Suzanne and Timothy Dale. Joy was a hands on mother who loved fixing food for her family and providing a loving home. The family continued to operate the family farm for 66 years.
Faith was a priority for Joy and Warren Dale. They raised their kids in church and gave them their foundation in faith as members of the First Baptist Church in Tuttle since October 28, 1955. Joy sang in the choir and enjoyed helping serve meals for the church throughout the years. It wasn’t in her personality to lead a committee, but she was always willing to serve and help others.
Joy was a woman who was always smiling. She had a servant’s heart and loved her family deeply. Her greatest joy was being Grandma to her four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She made it a priority to attend their activities and enjoyed playing with them when she was able. She leaves behind a legacy of being a faithful wife, loving, mother, and loyal friend.
Joy is survived by her daughter Suzanne Rooker and husband Stanley; son Tim Shook; four grandchildren; Jason Rooker and wife Meegan, Jana Waitman and husband Matt, Jerod Shook and wife Ashley, and Lauren Krapff and husband Colin; nine great grandchildren, Alyssa Rooker, Cassidy Rooker, Tyler Waitman, Tucker Waitman, Mattison Waitman, Brody Shook, Kamdyn Shook, Lincoln Krapff and Norah Krapff; sister Bobbie Denniston; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Joy was preceded in death by her parents, husband Warren Dale Shook, and three brothers; Lavon Bradley, Bill Bradley, and Jack Bradley.
