In loving memory of Lance Curtis Henshall born on July 28th, 1965 to Lance and Jena (Bratcher) Henshall in Oklahoma City, OK. Lance was raised by his mother and stepfather Jena Hutchison and Dick Hutchison in Moore, OK and then moved to Tuttle, OK where he attended Tuttle High School. Lance was the middle child of three, he has a sister Tammy and brother Jeffery. Growing up he enjoyed doing typical boy things like riding his bike, playing outside and spending time with his family and friends. He especially liked going to his grandmother's house in the city and hanging out with her and his aunts where he could ride his bike to the 7-11, get a Coke Slurpee and play pinball. Lance has always had a big sweet tooth, his favorite being ice cream and Grandma Lona always had plenty on hand for him! Lance was also a good roller skater and was a floor guard at the local rink. He was a loyal consumer of Coca-Cola products or a good cup of hot coffee and any kind of sweet baked good he could get his hands on. His favorite holiday has always been the 4th of July when he could watch the fireworks (and he always had his own stash to pop off later after the show), he liked to fish, loved Rock N' Roll music and collected Coca-Cola and NASCAR memorabilia.
Lance was a talented artist and skilled in construction and at the age of 18 was offered a job in a custom cabinet shop in the Chicago area by a friend, being the confident man that he was he accepted the challenge, packed up and moved 900 miles from home. He ended up in a little town in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, IL called Addison where he met Linda Thonn in 1984. Lance and Linda started to build a life together and were married on June 21st, 1986. They welcomed their first child, a beautiful daughter named Linsey in December of 1988, their second child and first son, Curtis in May of 1991 and last but not least their 3rd (and last!) child, Logan was born in February of 1994. Lance was a wonderful husband and father who loved spending time with his family, would read stories, play games with his kids and tuck them in to bed every night. He never missed a chance to be with and support his children in all of their school functions, sporting events and activities. Lance worked hard and continued his career as a custom cabinet maker, he was a master craftsman who took pride in every piece he built. After living in Illinois for 30 years, he became a Chicago sports fan, cheered on the Bears and White Sox with his large, extended Chicago family, but his heart always remained faithful to the good ol' OU Sooners!
In September of 2014 Lance and Linda went their separate ways but remained close friends and Lance moved back to Blanchard, OK where he lived with his sister Tammy. He finally got his dream Chevy truck, spent time with his family, studied his faith and would help anyone that needed a hand. Lance was always a people person who could talk to anyone, anytime, anywhere about anything. People just attracted to him, it was a gift.
Lance overcame many challenges in his life but was hit with one more, cancer, and became very ill very quickly, this he could not beat. He passed away on October 30th, 2022 at 12:11am with his sister Tammy by his side, just like she has always been throughout his life, always there for her little brother.
Lance is survived by Linda and his three children, Linsey (33), Curtis (31) and Logan (28), his mother and stepfather Jena and Dick Hutchison, sister Tammy (Henshall) Colquitt and her husband Galen, two aunts and one uncle, plus many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Lance was preceded in death by his grandparents Lona and Lance Henshall Sr., Dorothy and Dale Hayes, father Lance Henshall, Jr., brother Jeffery Henshall, brother-in-law Terry Hottel and niece Michelle Hottel, and mother-in-law Louise Thonn (who always thought of him as one of her own).
Lance was a special person, gone to soon and will be missed by all that knew him, he touched many lives and hearts on his journey here on earth. He was always in awe of the Bald Eagle and I like to think he is now up there in the sky soaring with the eagles, free as a bird. Rest in Peace Lance and thank you for all the good times and wonderful memories, we will always love you!
