Loyd Alvin Wariner, age 94, passed away Monday, January 20, 2025 in Midland, Texas.
Loyd was born May 18, 1930 in Chickasha , Oklahoma, the oldest son of Pearlie and Vernon Wariner. He came from humble beginnings and experienced the loss of both parents by the age of eighteen. Loyd had to grow up fast and found work to provide for himself. Loyd played football for the Tigers graduating with the Tuttle High School class of 1948.
Loyd enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served during the Korean War. He went to serve in the Air Force Reserves as well as the Air National Guard as a chief master sergeant until his retirement. Loyd was a humble man with a love for country to his core.
Loyd met Jeanine Stinchcomb and the two fell for one another from the start. His buddy Warren Dale Shook gave him a ride to the city to buy an engagement ring, he proposed, and she said yes. The two were married August 24, 1951 in Tuttle, Oklahoma at Jeanine's mother home. Loyd and Jeanine loved to travel all of the United States and spent winters in South Texas. They were blessed with two children Russell Wayne and Rebecca Jean. They were hands on parents who were so proud of their children and loved watching them involved in activities. His favorite role of all was having grandkids. He never missed an activity and was intentional to have a relationship with each one.
Loyd was a man of faith and attended First Baptist Church of Tuttle for over six decades. He sang in choir, attended Men's prayer breakfast, served with the homeless ministry, attended JOY trips with the seniors, and loved the many friendships he made over the years.
Loyd was a kind and loyal man who shared his faith with others whenever he had the opportunity. He never met a stranger and loved working with wood both carving and building creations he came up with. Loyd was happiest working with his hands and could fix anything. He had a gift for gardening known for the best tomatoes and had an immaculate lawn with every shrub and bush trimmed. He leaves behind a legacy of faith in God, a work ethic second to none, and a love for his family that had no end.
Loyd is survived by his daughter Becky Workman; grandson Shane Workman and wife Angie; grandson Kyle Workman and wife Alicia; granddaughter Andi Brooks and husband Brock; grandson Chris Wariner; granddaughter Kayla Warine; great grandchildren Brayden Workman, Mallorie Workman, Cooper Workman, Payton Brooks, Parker Brooks, Darby Workman, Cade Brooks, and Thora Wariner; along with many nieces nephews, cousins, and friends who loved him dearly.
Loyd is preceded in death by his parents Pearlie and Vernon Wariner; beloved wife Jeanine Wariner; son Russell Wariner; brother Roy Wariner, and brother Floyd Wariner.
