Matthew George "Matt" Kopf, 43, of Tuttle, OK passed away on July 7, 2022. Matthew was born on November 16, 1978 in Okeene, OK, to Pat (Bernhardt) Thompson and Randy Kopf. He attended school in Okeene and Calumet where he played basketball and baseball, graduating from Calumet High School with the class of 1998. He was happiest outdoors hunting and fishing, driving semi's and hauling cattle alongside his brother and best friend Mark. Matt and Mark, along with their Dad, harvested from Oklahoma to as far as Lodge Grass, Montana with their family business. He began his career in the oil and gas industry with Chesapeake Energy where he worked for several years. In 2012, Matt started his own business, Recoil, putting in long hours of work to make it the success that it is today.
Matt's love of driving fast four-wheelers led him to meet the love of his life, Lauren Dreu Wells at a motorcycle race in Enid, OK. There were instant sparks between the two and their love story for the ages began. The two married August 28, 2004 in Las Vegas, NV and shared a wonderful life together for 18 years. While their children were top priority, they enjoyed quality time together traveling, feeding their cattle, watching Netflix, scary movies and OU football. They finished each others sentences, enjoyed lunch dates, lifted each other up and did everything together.
There was nothing Matt loved more than his daughters Taylor Paige, Rylee Elizabeth and Gracie Jo. He was a Dad they could count on, was involved in all of their activities and especially enjoyed their mutual love of basketball. Matt and the girls would go to state basketball tournaments, would frequently play a round of basketball at the gym and for years he stepped up as a volunteer coach. He was their biggest fan and cheerleader, would do anything for them and rarely, (if ever) told them no. Matt was a hands on Dad who saw the importance of his three farmers daughters having a work ethic while also taking time to teach them how to drive a car, operate a tractor and moving hay. While he worked hard, he loved to play hard; Taking the girls frog gigging, fishing, tubing at the lake, late night movies and Whataburger runs were some of their favorite things. He was an accomplished rattlesnake hunter and would often take the girls with him. Pranks and scaring people were among his favorite activities. Matt was always available to put on a scary mask to scare the girls friends or a take a group to a haunted house. Gaming was another activity he and the girls enjoyed, especially his performances playing Just Dance on the Xbox. All in all, he was a Dad who showed up for his girls every day and put a smile on their face.
Matt was a son, brother, husband, father, and friend who leaves behind a legacy of being an honest man, trustworthy, loyal to the core and the kind of personality where people naturally gravitated to him. Simply put, everyone loved Matt and he loved everyone. He worked hard and built his life from the ground up with the primary goal of providing a wonderful life for his family. He will be dearly missed every day by everyone who had the privilage of knowing him.
Matthew is survived by his wife Lauren Dreu Kopf; daughters Taylor Blagg, Rylee Kopf, and Gracie Kopf; father Randy Kopf; mother Pat Thompson; brother Mark Kopf; sisters Michelle Rutz and Cassey Thompson. Along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends
Matthew is preceded in death by Grandparents Bob and Beverly Kopf; Grandpa Richard Bernhardt; Uncle Mike Kopf and Wife Jackie.
