Michael Wayne Reynolds, age 71, of Newcastle, Oklahoma, passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2025 in Midwest City, Oklahoma.
Michael Reynolds was born on June 13, 1953, the beloved son of Mina Bell and Ralph Reynolds. He entered the world as the youngest of three, joining his older brother and sister in a household filled with adventure and brotherly camaraderie. From an early age, Michael had a strong work ethic and a desire to be involved in his community. As a young boy, he delivered newspapers and was an active member of the Kiwanis Cop Club, a youth program that fostered responsibility and leadership.
Michael’s love for motorcycles began when he was just fourteen, a passion that would stay with him throughout his life. At the age of sixteen, he took on his first job at Capital Steel, where he worked diligently for several years, proving himself to be hardworking and dependable. However, Michael was not one to settle for the ordinary—he had an entrepreneurial spirit. In 1977, he and his close friend Larry Jackson took a leap of faith and founded L&M Construction, a business that allowed him to take control of his future.
Despite his ambition and early successes, life took Michael down a difficult path. He faced struggles and made choices that ultimately led to serving time in jail. However, his story did not end there. Michael used this chapter of his life as a turning point, a moment of reckoning that redirected him toward something greater. Emerging from adversity, he dedicated himself to Recovery Ministry, using his testimony to inspire and uplift those battling their own hardships. Through his words and unwavering support, Michael helped countless people find hope and healing.
Michael was known for his frugal nature, always making sure that resources were used wisely. But more importantly, he was a man of deep faith and strong values, which became even more evident when he met the love of his life, Rhena Kettler. Their story began in the most fitting place—a church service, where their spirits instantly connected. Their love blossomed quickly, and in 2013, they exchanged vows, embarking on a journey together not only as husband and wife but as partners in faith and service.
As a couple, Michael and Rhena were deeply involved in ministry, leading Bible studies and recovery services that transformed the lives of many. They became a pillar of strength for those who sought guidance, offering wisdom, compassion, and a reminder that redemption is always possible.
Beyond their ministry work, Michael and Rhena shared a love for travel and cherished their trips to Sulphur Lake, where they would stay in a cozy cabin, enjoying the peace and beauty of nature. One of their greatest joys was making memories with their children and grandchildren. Every summer, they would rent multiple cabins and gather the entire family for a much-anticipated vacation filled with laughter, love, and togetherness.
Michael deeply valued family meals and the sacred tradition of prayer before supper. He believed in the importance of breaking bread together, sharing stories, and strengthening bonds over heartfelt conversations. His home was always open to friends and loved ones, as he delighted in fellowship and meaningful discussions with the people he held dear.
As a grandfather, Michael was delightfully ornery—a playful and mischievous Papa who had a soft spot for his grandkids. If their parents said "no" to something, they knew exactly who to turn to—Papa Michael, who often had a different answer. He was present in their lives in every way that mattered, attending their school events, sports games, and special moments with unwavering enthusiasm and pride.
Michael's life was a testament to transformation, faith, and the power of second chances. Though he faced hardships, he emerged stronger, using his experiences to guide others toward hope and healing. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those he loved, the lives he touched, and the faith he so passionately shared.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years Rhena Reynolds; son Michael Reynolds and wife Carrie; daughter Stacie Reynolds and husband David; son Michael Walton Reynolds and wife Traci; son Preston Reynolds and wife Jasmine; son Tyler Collins; son Bryce Collins, grandchildren Dustin, Elizabeth, Kamber, Jackson, Kirstie, Lily, Willow, Jessica, Peyton, Brylee, Avianna, Ashley, Kenslei, Ryker, Cassie, Kia, Liam, Emma, Noah, Maddie, Haley, Belle, Levi, Riley; brother in law Jesse and wife Jackie Kettler; Kathy Kettler; nephew Larry Freeman; Nephew Paul Freeman and many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
