Phil Eugene Voss

September 6, 1954 — January 20, 2023

Phil Eugene Voss of Minco, Oklahoma, passed away on January 20, 2023, at the age of 68. Phil was born on September 6, 1954 in Oklahoma City, OK. Phil resided in Oklahoma City and graduated from U.S. Grant High School in 1972. In his youth, Phil was known as a free spirit who loved riding his motorcycles. On June 13, 1975, he married the love of his life, Edra Sweat, at Bethel Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, OK. They were blessed with three children Phillip Kraig, Alyssa Renee, and Noland Wade.

Phil was best known for his generosity, words of wisdom, and advice. His favorite pastime was reading his many western books while relaxing in his recliner with his cat. Many days you could find him outside tinkering in his garage, building something, taking care of the lawn, or washing his vehicles. He knew every neighborhood dog by name and was known for sneaking them treats. He loved animals of all kinds but had a particular fondness for pigeons that began as a young child. For many years Phil lived on an acreage west of Minco Oklahoma. His acreage was filled with every kind of farm animal he could bring in.

Phil’s biggest joy was his family. As a father he was involved in all of his children's activities and had a very close bond and unique relationship with each of them. His greatest desire was for his family to be happy. During family gatherings, Phil was content to watch and listen to the laughter of his children and grandchildren, soaking in their presence. He enjoyed spending time at the many basketball, baseball, track, softball, and dance events for his four grandchildren, Tanner, Riley, Taitlyn, and Jaxson. He loved to motivate them to achieve their goals and they could always count on PaPa to slip them some money for a job well done. He enjoyed taking his grandkids hunting and fishing. On weekends, with Edra by his side, the grandkids would pile in his vehicle for a trip to Fort Cobb or Lake Overholser to feed the geese and end their day with dinner at Braum’s. He was truly the happiest when he was with his family.

Phil retired from Tinker Air Force Base in 2021. He was well-known around Tinker as the go-to mechanic. He was well respected, dedicated and hard-working. He made many meaningful and lasting friendships through the years at Tinker. Phil often reminisced and loved to tell stories about his time spent with "the guys" at Tinker.

Phil is survived by his wife of 47 years, Edra; son Phillip Voss and wife, Leslie; daughter Alyssa Hibbard and husband, Hutch; son Noland Voss and wife, Lacy; grandchildren Tanner Voss, Riley Leonard, Taitlyn Voss, and Jaxson Voss and many nieces, nephews, sister in law, cousins and friends.

Phil is preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Betty Voss, and his younger brother Victor Voss.
