Ricky Don Sowers, Sr.

Ricky Don Sowers Sr., age 55, of Tuttle, Oklahoma, passed away Friday, December 20, 2024 at his home in Tuttle, Oklahoma.

Ricky was born April 2, 1969 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the only son of Carolyn "Vickie" and William "Rick" Sowers. He was raised in Tuttle alongside his sister Tamra "Sissy" where he attended school. He entered the workforce before reaching the age of seventeen, where he was always drawn to working with metal, numbers, and using his hands.

Ricky met Kerry Morgan through mutual friends and after he asked Kerry to get out of his chair, the two began dating. To quote his words, "I knew GOD had sent her to be in my life for the rest of my life after about sixty to ninety days. She just made me very happy and wow how she filled out them Rockie pants." A year later, the two were married June 23, 1990 in Minco, Oklahoma. He often shared the proudest moment of his life was when he married Kerry, the prettiest woman on this earth, in 1990. They both wanted to start a family and went on to be blessed with eight children Ricky Don Jr., Randy Curtis, Kiley Fay, Rodny Don, Kamey Ann, Riley Ray, Rusty Jake, and Ryan Alan. Their children were their entire world and they loved building a large family together. As a Dad, he was a devoted provider who wanted his children to have a life that was better than his. His favorite role was being Papa to his nine grandchildren. He loved being silly with the grandchildren, teasing them, doing his broken thumb joke, and giving them candy, LOTS of candy.

Ricky was best known for being a cowboy at heart and being the "Tinhorn man." If he wore swimming trunks to the lake instead of his usual Levi jeans, he still wore long white socks up to his knees, a cowboy hat, and boots. Partnering with his father Rick Sowers, he created a successful business that everyone now knows as "Tinhorns R Us." He had a work ethic that was second to none and a love that lit up the world. He was a generous man and gave to others without need for recognition in return. He was a brother, husband, father, Papa, "Poopa," Hero, and friend who will be missed by all who knew him. Everyone who knew him remembers him as a stubborn, fair, honest, and hardworking man who always stood up for what he believed in and would bend for no man.

Ricky, when asked about his heros, mentors, and people who made a large impact said, " My dad was and is my Superman, I always wanted to be just like him, big, strong, respected and firm, he is my hero in everything. Bob Norman, he took me under his wing, Very smart man and a great family man. He taught me a lot. Ronald Garrett, my best friend, he was always there for me no matter what. Allen Douglas, Very smart man, great with his kids and grandkids, hard working, and taught me a lot. My grandpa E.C Sowers, he made a good living and was respected and done it on a 6th grade education, he taught me things I use everyday, he was fun to be around and share some of life's big impacts with. And finally Superman, cause he's bullet proof."

Ricky is survived by his wife Kerry Sowers; eight children Ricky Sowers Jr. and wife Kristin, Randy Sowers and wife Nicole, Kiley Vega and husband Jose, Rodny Sowers, Kamey Sowers, Riley Sowers, Rusty Sowers and wife Shalee, and Ryan Sowers; nine grandchildren Jackson Mosier, BraeLynn Sowers, Ella Sowers, Isabella Vega, Ezra Sowers, Olivia Vega, Addison Sowers, Everett Sowers, and Victoria Vega; father William "Rick" Sowers; sister Tamra Sowers; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Ricky is preceded in death by his grandfather Everett "E.C." Sowers, and his mother Carolyn "Vickie" Mayhabb.
