Sharon Dean McCain

Sharon Dean McCain, age 75, of Mustang, Oklahoma, passed away Monday, February 3, 2025, in Bethany, Oklahoma.

Sharon was born on August 6, 1949, in Ponca City, Oklahoma, to her loving parents, Frances and Forest Voreis. She grew up in a warm and caring home and was soon joined by her younger brothers, Randy and Gene, forming a close-knit family. From a young age, Sharon displayed a strong sense of determination and a love for learning. During her high school years, she was an active student, excelling both in academics and athletics, particularly as a talented basketball player.

After graduating high school, Sharon pursued further education at a technical school, where she worked diligently to earn her associate degree in business. It was during this time that fate intervened in the form of a phone call. Don, a young man with a kind heart and a charming personality, happened to call the dormitory where Sharon was staying. By chance, she was the one who answered the phone. That simple conversation sparked an immediate connection, and Don began calling regularly just to hear her voice. Over time, their phone conversations turned into something more, and eventually, Don gathered the courage to ask her out on a date. When Sharon agreed, neither of them knew that moment would set the course for a lifetime together.

Their love story moved swiftly, and just a few short months later, on September 21, 1968, Sharon and Don became husband and wife. Their anniversary became a cherished tradition, as the couple made it a point to celebrate by attending the fair each year—a tradition that remained close to their hearts throughout their marriage.

Not long after they wed, their family grew with the arrival of their first child, Donald Ray. Just two years later, they welcomed their daughter, Kristie Dawn. As a mother, Sharon was devoted and deeply involved in her children's lives. She took an active role in their education and extracurricular activities, always present to support them in every milestone and achievement.

When Sharon became a grandmother, her love and dedication to her family only grew stronger. She adored her grandchildren and made it a priority to attend every school event, sporting game, and special moment in their lives. She was their biggest cheerleader, always offering encouragement, support, and endless love.

Sharon’s life was one of love, devotion, and family. She built a home filled with warmth and laughter, created lasting memories with those she held dear, and left a legacy of kindness and strength that will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Donald McCain; son Ray McCain and wife Ronda; daughter Kristie Drury and husband Kevin; granddaughter Cassie Swetland and husband JB; granddaughter Reagan McCain; granddaughter Riley McCain; granddaughter Kelly Edwards; brother Randy Voreis and wife Debi; sister-in-law Kelley Voreis; and many nieces and nephews.

She preceded her parents; and brother Gene Voreis
