Sunny Linnea Hennigh

August 31, 1981 — October 10, 2023

Sunny Linnea Hennigh, 42, of Tuttle, Oklahoma, passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2023 in her home in Tuttle, Oklahoma.

Sunny was born August 31, 1981 in Kingfisher, Oklahoma, the first daughter of Sequoyah and Debbie Brown. She was raised in Booker, Texas alongside her younger sisters Chelsey and Shaley. Growing up she was an athlete playing softball and basketball where she proudly wore the family number 54. She graduated with the Booker High School class of 1999.

Sunny went on to cosmetology school in Woodward, Oklahoma where she found her passion of doing hair and nails. She loved big hair and her clients loved her for it. She had a gift for making clients feel special. She not only had excellent technique, she was fast.

Sunny and Cory Hennigh started as high school sweethearts. After years apart, they reconnected at her son's birthday party. Sparks flew and they married on May 29, 2015 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Sunny enjoyed pushing Cory out of his comfort zone from couples halloween costumes to hosting large family gatherings and parties. She also loved to shop for Cory and keep him dressed in style.

As a mother, she was always there for her children. Tobin Emery made her a mom first followed by Sloan Dean and Ruby Elizabeth. When she married Cory, her family was finally complete with her bonus children Aidan, Emmaly, and Samantha. She loved making their rooms special and personalized, celebrating their birthdays, and having one on one time with each of them.

Sunny was diagnosed with ALS at the age of 36. Her loving husband and devoted mother were her primary support system and caregivers while she courageously defeated medical odds. Her children, father, sisters, and dear friends were there for her every step of the way. Sunny's community made sunflower shirts as a fundraiser and an ALS walk team was organized in her honor. She focused on her faith in God and desire to be present for her family as she faced each challenge.

Sunny was an artist who loved to paint, draw, decorate, and most of all make people feel beautiful when she did their hair and nails. She was a devoted and loyal daughter, mother, sister, and friend who put others before herself. Sunny's smile and personality was infectious. She was dearly loved in her hometown of Booker, Texas and embraced with a tribe of friends where she made a life in Tuttle, Oklahoma. She inspired countless people by overcoming obstacles and fighting with everything she had to be with her family as long as she could. Sunny will be missed dearly and her legacy of love, courage, and strength will live on forever.

Sunny is survived by her loving husband Cory Hennigh, son Tobin Brown; son Aidan Hennigh; daughter Emmaly Hennigh; daughter Samantha Hennigh; son Sloan Merrill; daughter Ruby Merrill; parents Debbie and Sequoyah Brown; sister Chelsey Brown; sister Shaley and husband Brandon Robinson, niece Aviana Rivero; nephews Sawyer and Linkin Robinson; uncles, aunts as well as many cousins and friends.

Sunny is preceded in death by her infant sister Tassy Ann Brown; grandparents Juanita and Charles Brown; and Ruby "Granny" McDaniel.
