He married his high school sweetheart Kayla Cotney and from that union was blessed with his oldest son Joshua Dean.

Thomas began working on an oil rig at the age of 17. Eventually he opened J&B rig services specializing in pump repairs. He also was a skilled painter and painted oil field equipment and other heavy machinery. He was transferred to Lubbock, Texas where he had the opportunity to work with his sons Austin and Zachary. He found great pride and accomplishment utilizing his proven skills and abilities and passing his knowledge to the younger men. Finally Thomas entered the Frac sand hauling end of the oilfield business eventually becoming an Owner Operator until he was injured on the job.

Thomas was a very good cook and loved a good steak. Most of all Thomas loved his dogs Sammee and Bambee and aspired to open an animal rescue one day.

Thomas married Kelly Ann Ferguson and gained a bonus daughter Brooke. Thomas took great pride in his home and loved his lawn looking good. He had a green thumb and could grow anything . His lawn was always nicely manicured and he grew beautiful flowers.
