Virgil Wayne Stuva

June 3, 1929 — January 3, 2025

Virgil Wayne Stuva, 95, passed away in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on January 3rd, 2025.

Virgil Stuva, born on June 3, 1929, to Jeanette and Floyd Stuva, was the eldest of their children. From humble beginnings in rural life to a legacy of family, love, and laughter, Virgil's journey was one of resilience, adventure, and joy.

After graduating high school, Virgil married Doris, and from their union, two daughters, Pamela and Ruth, were born. He began his working life at a local creamery, where his strong work ethic and warm personality made him a valued member of the community. In time, Virgil took a leap into business ownership, running a gas station for several years before seeking new horizons.

His adventurous spirit led him to Colorado, where he lived for four years. While there, he met Jane, and together they welcomed their daughter, Becky. Virgil’s time in Colorado was filled with new experiences, but his heart would eventually lead him back to Oklahoma, where life took an unexpected and wonderful turn.

It was at Hans BBQ that Virgil met Patricia — a woman whose warmth and kindness matched his own. He won her over with his charm, and they built a beautiful life together. Through this marriage, Virgil gained two more children, a stepdaughter and a stepson, whom he cherished as his own.

Virgil and Patricia shared a love for adventure and a joy for life. They moved often, exploring different parts of the country, always finding joy in the simple things — dancing, playing bingo, and listening to Virgil play guitar. Their favorite spot became the Newcastle Senior Center, where they made lasting memories and lifelong friends.

In Oklahoma, Virgil worked for Montgomery Ward for 29 years, where he specialized in selling tires and automotive products at both Penn Square and Crossroads malls. His dedication and talent in sales earned him numerous awards and trips, a testament to his hard work and personable nature.

During the last year of his life, Virgil lived at Sommerset Care Center, where he found companionship, made friends, and truly enjoyed being part of a close-knit community. His friendly demeanor and quick wit made him a beloved presence among the residents and staff alike.

He is survived by his daughter Ruth Page; Rebecca McCann and husband Steve; Gina Turner and husband Larry, son Gary Curtis and wife Kim; brother Dick Stuva; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and extended family

He is preceded in death by his wife Patricia Stuva; his parents; daughter Pamela Stewart; brother Don Stuva; and sister Patty Arterburn

A memorial service for Virgil will be held at a later date.
