Virginia Lee Brenneis, 91, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2022, in Duncan, OK.
Virginia was born on January 27, 1931 in Maud, Oklahoma, the only child to Mamie and Silas Ogle. As a small child, her family lost everything in a house fire. This life altering experience molded and shaped Virginia to appreciate the things she had and to work hard for the life she created just as the women before her had.
Virginia graduated from Central High School in 1948 and went on to take business courses at Oklahoma City University. She started her career as a bookkeeper and went on to become a trust officer with Security National Bank of Duncan where she served as the first female Vice President. She served with the bank for over 20 years.
Virginia married just out of high school and even though the union did not endure the test of time, her deep focus remained on her daughter Donna Kay. As a mother, she worked hard in hopes that her children would have a life better than hers. She married Charles Brenneis October 27, 1953 in Oklahoma City and Virginia welcomed his two sons Charles Killian and Robert Brock as her own. A year later, the two welcomed their daughter Terry Diane. Virginia was a smart, dynamic lady with a take charge personality. As a family, they enjoyed their summers at their lake trailer located at Texhoma. While the rest of the family would enjoy boating and water skiing, Virginia never got in the water because she couldn't swim.
Virginia was best known for her famous fried chicken and chicken and dumplings, as well as for being a wonderful seamstress. She would sew doll clothes, clothing for her children and drapes for her home. Decorating for holidays was a favorite thing for her and she loved hosting gatherings and spending time with her family. She and Charles also worked preparing dinners at her church and antagonizing her Pastor, “Sir Randolph.” Virginia had Boston Terrier named Maezee that she considered a member of her family.
Virginia is survived by her daughter Donna McMillan and husband Ron; daughter Terry Evans; son Charley Brenneis and wife Nancy; seven grandchildren: Theresa Spencer; Kari Hayes and husband Jon; Tony McMillan and wife Jenny; Shawn Brenneis and wife Rachel; Emily Tyrrell and husband Mickey; and Kelly Henderson; 15 great grandchildren Julie, Kasi, Michael, Chris, Hunter, Parker, Lillian, Gavin, Jordan, Peyton, Ella, Max, Ruby, Wyatt and William.
Virginia is preceded in death by her parents Mamie and Silas Ogle, her husband of 61 years Charles; son Bob Brenneis, grandson Charley Shockey; and precious Boston Terrier Maezee.
