Wesley Van Winkle

December 8, 1953 — April 5, 2025

Tuttle

Wesley Floyde Van Winkle, 71, of Tuttle, Oklahoma passed away peacefully. He was born on December 8, 1953, in Enid, Oklahoma, to George and Juanita (Hopkins) Van Winkle.

Wesley spent most of his early years in Enid and where he graduated from Lahoma High School. From a young age, he showed a passion for mechanics, eventually turning his love for race cars into a lifelong career. After high school, Wesley worked as a mechanic and later opened Maxx Racing Chassis, where he built and sold race cars. His passion for dirt track racing never faded, and he could often be found watching the latest races and cheering with excitement.

In the 1970s, Wesley made a spontaneous move to Las Vegas, where he embraced his musical side, playing bass guitar in various bands and enjoying life on the road. Despite the fun and adventure, Oklahoma always called him home.

On August 1, 1987, Wesley married the love of his life, Deboria “Debbie” (Bocox), in Douglas, Oklahoma. Together, they shared a deep bond, often traveling to Eureka Springs where antique shopping became a favorite pastime—Wesley always on the hunt for something “older than he was.” He loved going to car shows and working in his shop teaching his sons and grandkids how to work on cars.

Wesley had a big heart, especially for his family. He loved the 4th of July, always making sure the grandkids had plenty of fireworks and memories to last a lifetime. His sense of humor, love for racing, and dedication to his family will be remembered by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Juanita Van Winkle; sisters, Grace Cotal and Georgia Guldeman; granddaughter, Jacqueline Michelle Wright; and son, Wesley Charles Patocka.

Wesley is survived by his beloved wife, Debbie Van Winkle; sons, Mark Patocka and his wife Melissa, and Eric Van Winkle; daughter, Mandy Graves and her husband Kristian; grandchildren, Austin Wright, Nolan Wright, Max Patocka, Makenah Van Winkle, Makylah Van Winkle, and Maddison Van Winkle; sister, Thelma Coble; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Wesley’s life was a celebration of music, engines, laughter, and love. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
